Terrific Tuesday

Hi 3rd graders! We began our Tuesday with a morning meeting. We greeted each other with a “ball” toss and thought of different ways to say hi, such as: hola, howdy, what’s up, and hey! We shared what famous person we would like to have lunch with and why and then we played Mystery Student and read the blog.

Once we finished up with our morning reading, we continued reading “The Wind in the Willows.” In today’s reading, three new characters appeared: Otter, Toad, and Badger. We discussed how Rat and Mole showed friendship. Do you remember what today’s vocabulary word, dejected means? Comment below for a bonus ticket!

Next, we began our 3 different reading rotations. In Mrs. Day’s rotation, you discussed perspective. Perspective is the experience/eyes of the character through which a part of the story is told. Today’s story was told through Mole’s perspective. Together with a partner, you rewrote the story in Rat’s perspective. In Mrs. Meridith’s group, we discussed the vowel teams a_e, e_e, i_e, o_e, and u_e. You met with Miss Malorie to read another short story about Sir Gus and answer questions. We ended our morning by taking another Fastbridge test. Thank you to those of you who took your time and read very carefully.

In the afternoon, after specials, we started our 3 math rotations. You had a lesson with Mrs. Meridith and Mrs. Day about relating equal groups to arrays, fact fluency practice with Miss Gurley, and Reflex time on your own. Unfortunately, at the end of the day we were not able to get outside for recess because we had to do some transitioning practice. Your teachers know you will do better at this tomorrow!

Have a great evening, see you all in the morning!
