Light and Sound, Polar Animals, and Area

Happy Wacky Wednesday 3rd graders! We began our morning with our student of the month assembly. The character trait for the month of December was Generosity. Congratulations to Heaven and Savannah for being awarded students of the month!

After we returned to the classroom and finished up our morning meeting, we introduced our new reading unit to you. Unit 5 is all about Light and Sound. During reading rotations, you read Chapter 1 in your little readers with Mrs. Meridith, reviewed the suffixes -er, -or, -ist, and -ian with Mrs. Day and you learned a new spelling pattern with Miss Gurley and Miss Malorie.

After lunch and recess we met with Mystery Doug to explore how polar animals keep warm in the coldest regions on Earth. For a bonus ticket, comment below one way that polar animals keep warm.

For today’s math rotations, you found the area of irregular rectangles by decomposing them into 2 rectangles during your teacher lesson, completed lessons on Dreambox and worked on a menu activity or fact fluency.

It was another great day in 3rd grade! See you all tomorrow!
