IKE Olympics
Welcome to our wacky Wednesday in 3rd grade! We started the day off with a special House Challenge - The IKE Winter Olympics! After meeting up with your house leaders, you were sent to the event you were assigned to represent your house at. The judges were not only looking for athletic ability, but also competitors who were showing great character traits, such as integrity, sportsmanship, honesty, and spirit! For a bonus ticket, leave a comment with your favorite part of the House Challenge.
When we returned to the classroom we had a quick morning meeting and then began our reading lessons for the day. Together in small groups we read chapter 5 in your little readers. This chapter talked all about asteroids, comets, and meteors. After you read the chapter, you were assigned specific pages to take notes on, then we used a triple Venn diagram to compare and contrast asteroids, comets, and meteors.
Next, Miss Emily was here for an Exploration Place science lesson about magnets. You explored the push and pull of magnets and how magnets attract certain types of metal and you even used magnets to have car races! For a bonus ticket, comment
After lunch, we had another science lesson with Mystery Doug. This lesson went perfectly with your Exploration Place science lesson because it involved investigating magnetic attraction and repulsion. We will continue this lesson tomorrow!
During our math lesson, you created a scaled bar graph using given data. You noticed that bar graphs can be vertical or horizontal and still show the same information. This lesson was jam packed with information, so we will finish it tomorrow.
At the end of the day, Mrs. Day announced the Olympians who showed great sportsmanship and perseverance. They were awarded medals, way to go!
See you all tomorrow!
