Hello 3rd graders! Happy Thursday! As you came into the classroom today, you did deposited money with our treasurer and finished any missing work. We started our morning meeting off with a greeting and a quick game of “Brittin Says.” After announcements, we began our day.
For today’s whole group reading lesson we brainstormed some positives and negatives of life as a sailor. Some positives were that you could possibly find new land and you got to go on an adventure. Some of the negatives were that you only got to eat hardtack, you had to sleep on the hard deck, and many sailors got sick with scurvy.
In today's rotations, you met with Mrs. Day to continue adding the final touches to your personal narrative and writing a lead that hooks readers.
In Math with Mrs. Meridith you used square tiles to make rectangles with a given number of unit squares. For certain areas, you could only make 1 rectangle because there was only one factor pair.
During Miss Gurley’s group you used what we discussed in whole group reading to decide if you would like to like to be a sailor on John Cabot’s ship or not. Once you made your decision, you completed an opinion piece using the OREO method. When writing an opinion piece, state your opinion and give reasons and examples to support your opinion.
After lunch and recess you got back together with your houses to continue working on your cardboard arcade games. Next week, the 1st and 4th grade classes will come play your games and vote on which one they liked the best.
Before we knew it, it was the end of the day! Don’t forget you have a spelling test, times test AND math test tomorrow!
Have a great night, see you in the morning!
