Happy FRI-YAY 3rd graders! It was a gloomy, rainy morning, but that didn't stop us from getting stuff done! If you had any Color Run money, you turned that in with Mrs. R before our morning meeting. Today was the last day to turn in money. We had a quick meeting and got to see a special show & tell from our students of the week, Gemma and Zoe R.

Before we began our daily rotations, you took your weekly spelling and times tests.

In today's writing lesson with Mrs. Day, you chose a topic for your personal narrative from your brainstorming page. Once you chose your topic and conferenced with Mrs. Day, you began writing your rough draft. During math, you met with Mrs. Meridith to solve problems involving perimeter and missing measurements. In Miss Gurley's group, you read Chapter 5 in your little readers and completed another expedition log about the conquistador, Hernando de Soto. De Soto was a veteran conquistador because he had a lot of experience in conquering new territories. He sailed for Spain and he wanted to gather up the gold that was rumored to be in Florida.

During story time, we discussed our 3rd grade lemonade stand. You all had great suggestions and ideas. Unfortunately, the weather forecast doesn't look great next week, but this gives us more time to get supplies ready and assign you to a committee to help with this fundraiser.

After lunch, we had a class discussion about the journal prompt you completed earlier this week. The question on this prompt was what you would like to change about our 3rd grade classroom. Your teachers will consider your suggestions, thanks for everyone's input.

For STEAM time in library, you started a special garden project. This project requires you to choose five different items to plant in your garden. Once you choose your items, you have to figure out the area and perimeter of plants and flowers and add up the cost of supplies. This will take you a couple weeks to finish.

Before the day was over, we got an announcement that our class raised enough Color Run money to earn a Donut party. Yay! Also, before we left you all helped us move your cohorts to their new seats. You will be at these seats for 2 weeks.

Have a great weekend! See you all on Monday!
